A photographic solo exhibition by documentary photographer Alison Palmer.

Originally commissioned by the National Football Museum, this exhibition by photographer and FA coach Alison Palmer explores the grassroots impact of the Lionesses’ Euros win and how it had affected communities and inspired change up and down the country. Documenting women’s and girls’ football across the UK, it amplifies marginalised voices, celebrates their passion for the game, and advocates for equality. Powerfully combining photographs with interviews, it captures stories that resonate way beyond football.

“…this show belongs to the people I photographed and interviewed, these are their stories, their voices and their time to be seen, not mine. I researched stories up and down the country and tapped into my sports contacts from Rotherham to Essex and many stops in between to find both women and girls who to date, had felt marginalised, their stories unheard their positions in society unrecognised. The main objectives? To show that these women and girls ‘belong’ that their passion to play football needs to have a space, an equal playing field. I wanted to give space and a voice to people who could then go on to inspire others to help them feel they too could also ‘belong’. It was essential for me that I also carried out documentary style interviews with everyone photographed as their stories are powerful and resonate way beyond football.” Alison Palmer
