This exhibition presents highlights from our Student Showcase 2016 book, which presents over seventy pieces of student work, drawn from across all years and all our programmes. It supports our belief that excellence in design is backed up with a thorough engagement in technology, aided by a genuine commitment to the Histories, Theories and Futures of Architecture and Landscape. The extent of the work shows that our Programmes are formally ambitious critically engaged and committed to an ethical approach to architecture and landscape.
The projects and texts range from the highly experimental and speculative to the more practical and socially engaged. The work utilises both analogue and digital means of the highest order and often merges these into hybrid forms of representation that defy simple categorisation. The work consists of drawings, physical and digital models, films and animations, critical writing and evidence based research, attesting to our commitment to show the full range of outputs and exposes the pluralistic culture that is at the heart of the Departmental ethos.
