Abstract Painting and Sculpture

The Brancaster Chronicles are recorded or filmed discussions on the occasion of exhibitions of work by participating artists, all of whom are abstract painters or sculptors. The discussions are archived on the website https://branchron.com/, as will be the film of the talk made here.

In this instance, rather than looking at the work of a single artist, the group are showing together in the Heritage Gallery, by kind invitation of the University of Greenwich, with one work from each person, to discuss comparisons and issues arising from that conjunction of works, and examine new ideas and directions.

These discussions aim to extend the personal creativity and questioning of individual artists into the public realm, opening the work to peer review, comment and analysis, with the intention of celebrating the non-prescriptive and innovative nature of abstract art and the pursuit of originality.

The Brancaster Chronicles are helping to bring into focus progressive abstract art and how to look at it and talk about it in a critical but supportive manner.

The artists participating in this exhibition are:
John Bunker
Robin Greenwood
Alexandra Harley
John Pollard
Hilde Skilton
Mark Skilton
Anne Smart
Anthony Smart
Emyr Williams

Private View: Monday 10th April, 6-8pm.
